Home Visits Annually

City on a Hill’s youth and family programs are designed to support children and teens (ages 6-18) by providing emotional, social, and academic support. We equip them with life skills, resources, and mentoring to help them envision and prepare for a brighter future.

We empower central city youth and their families to make positive life choices, succeed in school, and break the cycle of generational poverty. Through guidance and support, they develop the skills, values, and resources needed for economic self-sufficiency and a healthy future.

YOUTH AND FAMILY RESILIENCE

City on a Hill’s Youth and Family Resilience Program provides wellness and resilience training to youth, parents, and caregivers through evidenced-based risk prevention and life skills curriculum for youth, resilience activities, education, and consultations for adults. Parent & Caregiver Compassion Resilience Cohorts provide a safe space to share their stories, be vulnerable and learn self-care skills to maintain their physical, emotional, and mental well-being.

We address strategies that strengthen resilience factors in youth and families, including engagement in positive activities, family connection and relationships with other caring adults, training in how to maintain and strengthen personal resilience in the midst of traumatic circumstances, access to a strong neighborhood center, and access to resources in times of crisis.

YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

Our Youth Employment Program offers valuable job training and career exploration during the school year and summer. Participants receive employment training and financial education classes while also meeting successful professionals who share career insights.

Select high school students can participate in the Build Moto Program, where they collaborate as a team to design, build, and race motorcycles – developing technical skills, teamwork, and problem-solving all while exploring careers in engineer and mechanics. Summer employment is available for youth who attend training and pass our application process.

Summer employees also engage in our online badging platform, earning certifications in podcasting, culinary arts, soft skills, and construction – while working toward industry-recognized credentials. They may also train with corporate partners, offering a unique glimpse into potential future career opportunities.

EDUCATIONAL ADVANCEMENT AND MENTORING

Our Education and Mentoring Program provides personalized, one-on-one support to help youth set and achieve academic and personal goals. Through structured learning and hands-on activities, students engage in reading with adults, homework help, and educational programs like IXL online learning, where they can earn prizes while building key skills.

With a strong focus on mental wellness, mentoring sessions promote healthy boundaries and access to behavioral health services. Additional resources include college and career guidance, life skills training, and ‘Let’s Be Real’ discussion groups for ages 13-18, empowering youth to thrive and prepare for a successful future.
