Patient Services Representative

POSITION PURPOSE:

We are seeking a bilingual Patient Service Representative at City on a Hill who provides clinical and administrative support to ensure efficient health services in our Health & Wellness Center, which offers free medical, dental, and behavioral services to the community. They assist Medical Providers, the Health Services Manager, support staff, patients, and volunteers with tasks related to patient care, healthcare navigation, program coordination, and education. Services are offered on-site at the Free Health Clinic, through Telehealth (five days a week), and during monthly Health Outreach and foot care/vision clinics. Additionally, they support grant-funded programs and smaller chronic illness initiatives. About 20% of their role involves clerical and data entry tasks for the Operations Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bilingual Preferred: Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are strongly preferred, as our diverse patient population includes many individuals who speak Spanish as their primary language. Communicating effectively in both English and Spanish is essential to ensure all patients receive the highest quality care and support.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Patient Access, general physician office support, billing office, insurance office, hospitality, or a call center environment.
  • Intermediate math skills, acquired through education or work experience.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with staff, volunteers, tenants, and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and web-based systems.
  • Ability to type at least 25 WPM.
  • Proficiency in data entry, and experience using an electronic health record system.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for organizational errands.
  • Operates equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Stands, walks, and reaches above the shoulders as well as squats, bends, twists, kneels, and climbs throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to lift, push, carry various items (bags, boxes, etc.):
  • Lift up to 10 lbs. and frequently up to 20 lbs.
  • Push/pull 20 lbs.
